APE: what do we do, who are we?
The Parents' Association (APE) of the French Lycée Vincent van Gogh in The Hague brings together parents who volunteer to represent families, engage in an open dialogue with school management, and strengthen our community.
The main missions of our Association
We are all parents and we want the best for our children.
This includes a good education in an enriching environment. That is why we engage constructively in collaboration with the school and parents.
Listening and dialogue
We get feedback from parents on collective and individual issues and act as a communication link with the school so that, together, we can find the most suitable solutions for our children. We communicate openly on WhatsApp to facilitate the sharing of information between parents.
Representation of families
The APE elected parents represent all parents within the various school councils (nursery, primary and secondary). In secondary, the APE identifies and supports parent class representatives who attend the two annual class councils.
They are elected by the parents in October and meet three times a year in these bodies.
Friendliness and mutual support
We aim for friendliness and mutual support within our community of families. For example, we organise an autumn “apéro” and the school end of year party in June, we manage a stationery shop, we provide snacks for children during sports events, and we help high school students prepare for their post-bac interviews.
